In January 2005 I was trying to find a short cut to the Kroger's store on Dorothy Lane in Kettering from
my house in Dayton. It is then I found a new neighborhood development of homes going up in Kettering. After
crunching the numbers my wife and I decided to purchase our home here in Kettering and moved in in the spring of '05.
Instantly we fell in love with not only our house and our neighborhood, but the entire city of Kettering. After seeing
a sign in front of one of the Kettering Fire Stations that was promoting volunteer firefighters I thought it would
be the perfect way to serve this community and to give something back to it. Since joining the Kettering Fire
Department in March of 2006 I have received several certifications in both firefighting, EMT, as well as many specialty
fields such as Haz-Mat. It is a wonderful feeling knowing when I respond on calls not only am I helping my community
but my friends and neighbors too.
I am married to the most wonderful supportive person in the World, my wife
Denise, and we have two wonderful children Nathan and Jacob. Since February of 2002 I have worked for the Miami
County Sheriff's Office in Troy, OH. In 1996 I graduated from Beavercreek High School and went on to Sinclair Community
College to earn an associates degree in criminal justice. In 1997 I graduated from the Ohio Police Officers Training
Academy and worked for several police agencies before landing in Miami County. My parents live in Beavercreek.
My dad Jerry is a retired steelworker with 35 years of service at the Duriron Corporation and my mom Diane retired from
Knollwood Garden Center after 23 years of service. I have an older brother Andrew who is a math professor at Tennessee
Tech University in Cookeville, TN.
When I am not fighting crime or fires I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling,
local history, landscaping and gardening, and spending time with friends.
